Apparently President George W. Bush sees the troubles presently incurred in the current mess that is Iraq as "just a comma" in the country's history. Naturally his statement has created a great political battle, and much material for pundits, politicians, and journalists alike to talk about.
With his 'comma' logic, Rwandan genocide in the latter 20th century would be an ellipse, World War II would be a long dash, and the American Civil War would be a small period. Or maybe the Rwandan genocide would be a smudge, WWII two exclimation points, and the Civil War a swish. (Feel free to submit your own examples.)
Excusing the metaphors, this is only one dumb comment coming from a president that has entire book series written about his misspeaking and a word used to refer to such sayings, 'Bushisms'.
