'US thanks Syria', FP day, and more!

Now a bit of somewhat-sarcastic neo-realism:
That has to be a first. See, Bush and Co., Syria can be nice! (BBC News) But seriously, one can only wonder why we have Syria and Cuba on our 'Axis of Evil' (ooh, spooky. Republican scare factor part of the recurring 'War on Terror' rhetoric...), when we don't have terrible states such as Burma and Saudi Arabia — both two of THE WORST human rights abusers on the planet (Amnesty International). Oh, wait, the Saudis have oil...

Back to business:
And speaking of human rights in powerful and not-as-powerful nations, here is a Foreign Policy article on the matter.

And since I already have a link to Foreign Policy online...
FP's Failed States Index and FP's Terrorism Index; if I may venture an opinion, great stuff.

My goodness, today might as well be Foreign Policy day!
FP's articles this issue, interesting 9/11 stuff.

So, this has been my first non-essay or archive blog post. Not all posts are like this one, I try to keep a nice variety between a bunch of links and a bunch of words, but this is one of the less contextual posts. FYI, you can always email posts you think are good to your friends or family (or whomever you email, um, blog posts to).
